Depends on the company doing the employment background checks. I know where I work they will try to confirm everything employment related and education related listed on a resume (regardless of how far back they go or if they’re even international – takes forever to do too!).

If however they were unable to track down the company itself, or they could track down the company but they didn’t have records about you (since they merged a few times and it was 12 years ago), I don’t think it would be flagged as suspicious in the least.
