depends. if you lied on the application and said you don’t have a criminal record, you’re pretty much guaranteed to not get the job. plus most companies that do back ground checks, do them for a reason. For example my company does them because we will lose our insurance if we hire someone with a criminal record. No insurance, means we cannot work. There are however some jobs we can give to people even though they have a criminal record, if you lie to us about it though, forget about getting a job

No. In my state it is illegal to refuse to hire a person due to a criminal conviction that is not directly related to the job.
In some states certain employers will refuse to hire anyone with a felony. Sometimes an employer is just looking for certain kinds of convictions. Many employers, for example, would not want to hire an accountant who had been convicted of embezzlement.
