I had to have a FBI Background Check(fingerprinting) done for my employers Radioactive Materials License. I know the file contains ones past criminal charges but was wondering if it lists anything about past employment history (termination). I know that the FBI collects information from state agencies and since I was on unemployment insurance was wondering if this would emerge in my report. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Well I got a letter in the mail today and it said…" The Census Bureau processes all applicants for temporary census jobs through pre-employment name check against the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services Division’s criminal file. This check resulted in a tentative match between you and an arrest record in the FBI criminal history index. Because this identification is based on descriptors only, there is a chance that this record does not concern you. Therefor you may do one of the following:
A) If you do not dispute the identity of the arrest record in question, provide OFFICIAL COURT documentation on any and all arrest(s) and or conviction(s) in your past;
B) If you wish to dispute the identity of the arrest record in question, you may provide a set of original fingerprints. Call xxx-xxx-xxxx to obtain a fingerprint card and and return envelope from the office which you applied.
ok now I do have a background I got in trouble for a Public Intoxication and disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. I ended up spending the night in jail got out. Had to go to AA and community service and pay a fine. This was almost 5-6 yrs ago. This was the only time I ever ever got in trouble is this what they are referring to, I am not sure what it is I should do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I have already had an FBI fingerprint background check done for employment, and now have to do a second one for the same reason. The first one took about 60 days to complete. Will a second one take less time to complete?

My background check application was received by the FBI CJIS on March 28th, 2011. I am inside the US and was just wondering if anyone has recently submitted a background check (for an international work visa) and how long it took. I have to get the background check apostilled by the US secretary of state. Any idea how much time that could add? Please help.

I am trying to get into the army and when I was 14 I was caught with marijuana will this show up on my FBI background check? If it does will they still let me join?

(This is a social service background check primarily for persons who will come in contact with the elderly or children.) I am 23 and was convicted of a class B misdemeanor when I was 15. My record was expunged after I turned 21. I know on FBI background checks, juvenile records can still be pulled up. Are there any other instances in which background checks can reveal juvenile records as well? Oh, and I am located in Texas, if that matters.

Is there any way to run a background check on someone for free? Possibly through the FBI, or police?

I enlisted into the Delayed Entry Program Sept 1st of 2010. Prior to being sworn in you have many things that are done including things that are used for a background check. My question is when my fingerprints were taken and sent to the FBI how long should it take before the results come back? And do they do the Background check before bootcamp or during bootcamp? I am just curious because I never heard anything about it from my recruiter or a letter or nothing like that.

I am looking into joining the military as an intelligence officer. This position requires a TS clearance. Looking at the form, it asks if any US government agency has conducted a background investigation on me. Is a local police agency considered a US government agency? I had applied with some local police agencies a few years ago and they conducted background investigations on me for employment. The TS form has an option for "other" under investigating agencies. Would local police be considered "Other?" or should my response state "No", I have never been investigated by the US government?
————–
Has the United States Government ever investigated your background and/or granted you a security clearance? If "Yes," use the codes that follow to provide the requested information below. If "Yes," but you can’t recall the investigating agency and/or the security clearance received, enter "Other" agency code or clearance code, as appropriate, and "Don’t know" or "Don’t recall" under the "Other Agency" heading, below. If your response is "No," or you don’t know or can’t recall if you were investigated and cleared, check the "No" box.
Codes for Investigating Agency
1 – Defense Department
2 – State Department
3 – Office of Personnel Management
4 – FBI
5 – Treasury Department
6 – Other (Specify)

My husband is applying for a job at a bank and in the application it says that they perform a background check through the FBI. When he was younger (16), he got in trouble in a different state and got a misdemeanor on his juvenile record, which is now presumably sealed. Is this going to show up on this background check? He has never had an issue with it before when applying for other jobs, but we figured the bank would do a more thorough check.

I am in the final stages of my pre-employment BG check. This company took my fingerprints to run an ‘FBI background check’. They, of course, didn’t say exactly what that means which, according to the FBI, is that they run the simply run the fingerprints to make sure they don’t pop up in that federal database. The FBI said they don’t do BGC’s for non-government companies, which makes clear sense. My specific concern/inquiry:
Will an ordinance violation, classified lower than a misdemeanor, show up on a fingerprint background check?
I reside in a Southern state but I was cited with an Ordinance Violation 10 years ago in another state. I was 17, which is an adult in the state of Wisconsin, where this occurred. I paid a fine and never went to court or had any other repercussions. I was offered a job and they required me to submit to a finger-print background check. On the Background Check Auth and Release, it said ‘have you ever been or are you currently being tried for/charged with a misdemeanor or felony?’ so I answered ‘NO’ which is the truth either way since it isn’t even a misdemeanor on my background. I asked the clerk at the Municipal court and she said it is possible for it to show on a deep Background check BUT it would show as a citation, not a misdemeanor. At this point, what’s done is done and I am just curious of what others think. I have gotten a lot of great answers already but like to get a lot of input. Thanks for any help!! … (ps) – I have held 4 other jobs, it never came up, but this it the 1st time I have ever had to give a fingerprint since it is with a financial institution … (pps) – The ordinance violation was for ‘petty shoplifting’. *** PLEASE DON’T ANSWER IF YOU ARE GOING TO SERVE UP A JUDGEMENT OR OPINION ON THE ‘MORALITY OR ETHICS’ OF MY ACTIONS. I DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHETHER YOU THINK WHAT I DID WAS WRONG OR NOT. ALL I AM LOOKING FOR IS SOME IMPARTIAL INSIGHT. THANK YOU. ***

I am planning on teaching in Korea for a year; however, I need an FBI Background Check before I can start working. I already got a fingerprint card from my local police station, with my fingerprints on it, but I am wondering if I should have notarized the card or not. I do not want to have more complications and just want to know before I mail off the form and card to the FBI.

I sent in my request for an FBI background check 8 weeks ago. I know it can take as long as 12-18 weeks to get it in the mail, but I’m trying to find out if there’s a way I can call some office and see what’s the status of my background check, like if it’s still being processed, if it’s already been mailed, or if they never got one from me, etc. Does anyone know how to do this? I can’t find a phone number, email, fax number or anything.

I am applying for a position at a discount brokerage firm that deals with stocks and bonds. The job requires high security clearances. I am wondering if my juvenile records will show up if I apply for the position and they do a FBI criminal background check on my history.
I have gone to the courthouse and have all of my records sealed. I have not engaged in any criminal activity ever since I have turn 18; which is about 5 years ago. Not a bad person, just a wild one.

I’m applying to be an agent with the FBI, DEA and USSS and I wanted to find out more information about how the background searches are completed. I know that the SF-86 contains a bunch of background info about me, but how is it checked? Do investigators go and confirm everything I’ve written on the form? And who might investigators talk to? What kinds of questions do they ask the people that they interview? I have nothing to hide – I’m just interested in the process.

Mainly Investment companies that do a full FBI and State background check?
Posted in People Background check by admin: September 24, 2010
When most employers do criminal background checks, they only search city, county, and state records. For federal records the FBI database must be accessed and the background check becomes more expensive, so many employers do not bother. If anyone knows more info on this…..please let me know.

What is a realistic time frame for an FBI background check on an alein that is married and already working in the US . The VISA that she currently has will expire in December and she is afraid to travel out of the US for fear of not being able to re-enter the country. The Green card interview was in December of 2006 and her daughter got her green card in one week, what could be the hold up ?

I will also have to be bonded, so I imagine the background check will be very complete. I had an FBI background check almost 3 years ago, and the charge showed up (despite being told that it would be expunged upon completion of community service program).
I’m very concerned, I’ve already been hired and am considering telling my employer in advance. Given the trust-based nature of this position, I am afraid that this will negatively affect their decision (understandably so).
Will it show up, and if so what are the chances of this affecting my employment status? It was a juvenile misdemeanor shoplifting charge, almost 11 years ago, and it is currently in the process of being expunged.
What should I do??

I applied for a job recently and underwent a FBI criminal background check (not a drug test). It takes a few weeks, but can they find out I’m a medical marijuana patient. In these bad times i need a job (don’t we all). Will the fact that a certified M.D issued me a medical marijuana card come up on the local, federal and FBI criminal background check? Someone who is familiar as to if the information is discreet, or made public to some sort of Government branch… please let me know THANK YOU!!! Thanks! ( =

I work in Florida and applied for a job at a preschool. Before hiring me, the employer required me to have a local and FBI background check performed. She told me that I would have to pay for both. If I didn’t pay, I wouldn’t have gotten the job, but I also wasn’t guaranteed the job, after paying. Is there any sort of law about this? Is she allowed to require me to pay for the background check? Shouldn’t she be paying for it if she is the one who wants to know my background in detail?

Some on this board claim that FBI did background check of Obama’s birth records. How come we still do not know the name of the hospital, the name of the doctor, or anything solid related to the original birth records? The so called "birth announcement" in local register has nothing to do with birth records.
Many reporters, investigators, private detectives have searched all hospitals there and have not found a single shred of evidence of Obama’s birth records. If FBI ever contacted the right hospital or any place related to his birth, somebody they talked to would leak something by now.

I need to get a residence permit to live abroad and one requirement is to get a criminal background check.
I know one way is directly apply to the FBI, but that’ll take weeks to months. I heard I could get a criminal background check from online and get it notarized. Is this true? If so, where can I get criminal background check and can it be notarized by any public notary officer or, does it have to be notarized by an embassy?
Thanks.
