People Background Search

I thought a job could not discriminate against someone when deciding to hire them but when the background check comes back that is their reason for not hiring you…isnt that discrimination..even if you do not have felonies or violent charges… Personally all I have is a possesion of weed and drink in public I have applied for well over twenty jobs that I am qualified for and got turned down on all of them for my back ground

I recently got a job offering for this Thursday but they require a Criminal background check. I have never been arrested but am nervous because my drivers license is suspended because I was pulled over for a broken tail light and no insurance. Im already taking care of the problem by paying that ticket. I have no misdemeanors or felonies. Please help will this affect my me getting the job. OH and no the job does not require any driving. Please help

I made it through 3 nerve wracking interviews and passed the drug test, and was told that they were just waiting to get a bunch of people together before they assign me to an orientation. I signed some papers and was told I’d be working in Health & Beauty. I have 2 felonies (petty theft 2004, sale of marijuana 2005) on my record and had put them down on my application, but was never asked about them at the interviews. I did sign a consent to do a background check and on the consent form I noted that I had 2 felonies again. The woman in personnel said that Walmart gives felons a second chance, but almost 4 weeks later I got a rejection letter. They said that they will not be offering me a job at this time…

i want to know what shows up in the background check, because, i’m about to get a job, but they need to do the background check. and i dont have any felonies, but i have a few misdemeanors, & or infractions, and want to know if those will affect me getting a job.

I’ve never been convicted, though. The judge was very good to me and gave me a CWOF (continuance without a finding) which resulted in a dismissal after 1 year probation and restitution. Needless to say, I complied with the terms of my 1 year probation and the aforementioned charges were dismissed.

I’ve never been convicted of those felonies. For employment purposes, would I pass a criminal background check? Where can I go to run my background to see if I would pass a criminal check?

I think it’s important to note that I’m from Massachusetts.

The company i applied for asked for misdemeanors or felonies in the past seven years, in the job application. They have told me the job is mine if I can clear the background check. I have an INFRACTION (much smaller than a misdemeaanor) of "theft of property" which is almost 7 1/2 years old. Would this still affect me? Ive lost opportunities in the past over this (but it was only 2-4 years old those times) do you think a jewelry store will hire me, given that its not a misdemeanor or felony and is past 7 years? Would that be illegal? Im CA, she told me not worry, but im just not sure…….
since its an INFRACTION i am unable to expunge it. Ive tried but the court said it must be a misdemanor or greater. ITS TOO SMALL TO REMOVE. but yet, big enough to come back….Ive tried.

My husband was offered a job for .70 for a company as a slitter operator and he has to pass a drug and background check.

He will pass the drug test but he’s worried about the background check. He’s 33 years old, and when he was 18/19 years old, he had a few felonies. Will they show it in his background check?

How far do companies usually go in looking for information? He had a few warrents for him within the last 5 years as well.

I have plead guilty to a summary offense retail theft (legally has about the weight of a traffic citation) four and a half years ago. It was a rough time for me as I was going through a divorce and my world was falling apart.

I never did anything like this before or anything like that after. I was a always a straight A student and have never tried drugs or gotten into any other trouble. Never even had a speeding ticket before.

Anyway, I kids go to a charter school. I am very involved in their lives, and I want to volunteer. According to Pennsylvania law, a background check must be done on anyway who is in the school including volunteers. I am really embarrassed about this and worry how this would affect the relationship that I have with the teachers and school. I also worry about my ex-wife somehow finding out.

Do these background checks just look for things like felonies, aggrevated assaults or child sex type offenses or are they on anything including my offense.
There are three levels of offenses in PA

1 Felony

2 Misdemeanor

3 Summary offense

Mine was the 3rd – I had to pay a fine and was on 2 months probation. I admittedly store 2 DVDs from a Kmart.

I am getting hired at a new job and they are going to run a background check on me for felonies. I am currently charged with a felony, but thats another long story. Anyways, my charges are expected to be dropped soon and I don’t want the charge to show up on a background check and screw me out of a job.

For instance if someone has a conviction of either grand theft or domestic violence for instance. When employers or anyone conducts a background check on an individual, exactly what information comes up. I know that the felonies will show up but will the felonies be explained in the check or would it be just in black and white.

I have a pending case that is going to be dismissed for 2 D Felony charges; I did not commit the alleged crimes. I’ve got a promising job coming up and they’re going to do a background check. Will this arrest/pending conviction show up? I wouldn’t hire someone with 2 D Felonies, but I’m innocent of this and its in the process of being dismissed!
I really hope its just a state check…that would be nice.

I was fingerprinted today for a job with a contractor that works directly with the IRS (in their building) and I am really praying to get the job but now the background check begins. I’m just wondering if your credit score is a factor on whether or not you get a job with the IRS because due to mistakes from the past, mine isn’t really that great however I have no misdemeanors, felonies and have never been to court or jail for anything. I’m just really praying that I get hired but nervous at the same time during this waiting period.

I interviewed for Books-a-Million last week. They must of liked me because the next day after the interview, I got an e-mail from them inviting me to fill out a background check form online. How long this usually take? Its been a week now. There shouldn’t be any problems because my background is clean, no misdemeanors or felonies.

I recently obtained my Bachelors degree with honors and now it is time to find employment. I noticed on the applications I am filling out, they specifically ask if you have "ever" had anything other than a minor traffic violation, including misdeamnors, felonies, etc. Thirteen years ago, on the 4th of July, coming home from the fireworks, I got pulled over and got a DWI (I barely failed the breath test). Anyway, I don’t know if I should go ahead and tell them about this or if I should put "none" on the application. I wonder if they will still consider me if they know this upfront or not. Will a background check or arrest background show the comapany, people etc. that filed the warrant of arrest or was indicated on the warrant? Does their name come up with the charge or is it the charge alone? Example: I had two felonies one obtaining by false pretense or token cash beloning to John Doe and valued at more than 0.00. The second was steal equipment valued at two hundred dollars or more and belongs to company ABC. The first charge was dropped completely ( obtaining by false pretense) and the second was reduced to misdemeanor (disorley conduct). Will a background check or arrest record show John Doe and company ABC or will it show the charges? Thank you..

My last boyfriend recently went to jail and now released for domestic violence.I knew he had been to prison b4 but I didnt know he had 19 felonies. As time goes on Im seeing that everything he said was a lie and I need to know about his past and warrant, charges, and if he is still wanted in other states but i have no vehicle or money just my pc?

SInce last year only I accumulated some debts and I have collection companies after me to pay them but I can’t pay them now since I don’t have a job. If an employer does a criminal background check, will the arrest show up? Should I be worried?

I am applying for a management job in retail and they will be doing a criminal background check. I have a current warrant for failure to appear in court on a traffic violation. I’ve been waiting to take care of it until I had the money. My question is…Will this show up on a "Criminal" background check or is this just for felonies? If it does show up, will this sort of "blemish" be harmful for a retail job?

My husband is in jail in florida, and they obtained records from New York stating that he had 4 felonies. Florida uses a scoresheet, and it has put him over the limit for his specific charge. I believe that they were in a hurry and looked at the original charge, not what he copped out to, and I want to rectify this situation.

My husband just had a background check done for a job, and it came back falsified. All of the information he provided was correct. Birth certificate, social security card, name, work history, education history, etc. He does not have any felonies or any criminal history at all. I know there are federal and state laws governing this issue. I’m wondering exactly what information is disclosed during a background check. I’m asking because I was a former police officer who got charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors (domestic incident) a month ago. The charges are false and are being fought with an attorney. Don’t wanna go into too many details, but all charges will be dropped in the end. The victim doesn’t want to testify, and never did. No victim, no case. Anyways, I know that if I applied to be another police officer or work for a Police Agency, they can run a special background check that will show the arrest, but if a private corporation say Walmart, or Target were to run my background for an employment check, only Felony Convictions would show up right? Or would the arrest show up as well? I know the application only says to list convictions, so im not listing anything. I just really want this job!! Pays very well with good benefits! Anyone?
