I just got hired for a new job in a health club. But they said they will do a background check. Will they be able to find out that I had a felony from another state?

I only worked for my current job for 3 months, and I knew it wasn’t a good fit when I first started, but thought will give it a try, and still have the same feeling 3 months later. It was a mistake, and now I am trying to find a new job. I am wondering if I omit this employment history, will the future employer’s background check show that 3 months and give me trouble? What will be better to include it and try to explain to the new employer why I had to look after 3 months or simply omit it?

I used to be an assistant manager at a private store that sold clothing, and sporting equipment. It was a small business. I worked there for 7 years. Would this show up on my background check for a new job? The company has bin long closed cause another company bought it in 2008. Will any info of this company be available to prove my employment, n held position there? Should I even leave this on my resume?

Worried and nervous, PLEASE HELP!?
I was a young single mother who got way in over my head with credit. In a time frame of 2001-2003, I was extremely negligent. I am much more responsible with myself now. Unfortunately, bad credit does not come off over night. I am even putting myself into a financial slump by paying off all my bad debt. To me it is worth it though! I am paying for my carelessness with my bad credit everyday! My concern is that I recently got hired for a GREAT job. Everything a single mother could hope for. They are doing a background check. It is for an insurance job. I am working in the customer service dept. It pays AMAZING! I am not sure if they are doing a credit check with the background check. Should I talk to someone at my new job and risk opening a can of worms, or wait it out and see what happens and explain my poor decisions at that time if the need arises. I am so nervous because I dont know what to do. I need this job SO bad! Should I tell them or not? Please help.

I recently got a new job after looking for 4 months. I was finally happy and I finally started getting all my bills caught back up.
When I went into work today my boss pulled me aside and asked if there was anything on the application I lied about. I told my boss no and she said she has no choice but to terminate my employment because i failed my background check. She told me it came back saying I had a felony from 12 years ago on it.
First off I have never been arrested in my life. 12 years ago I would of just turned 18 and I did get a speeding ticket and a seatbelt ticket around that time but never anything like this.
Now after all that looking for a job and going through applications and interviews im back at square one and more pissed off than ever because its not true.
Do I have any recourse as too my options. Im more than willing to do whatever it takes to get this fixed and hopefully it can be fixed fast and get my job back.
Can I find out who gave my employer the incorrect info and sue them? Do I really have a case?
I really dont know what to do if anyone could steer me in the right direction it would really help.
Thank you!

My new job has asked me to fill out a form that gives them permission to obtain Criminal Information, Credit Report, Background Report and Post-hire Investigation. I don’t mind the criminal and background check, but why would they need a credit report. I don’t want to give them authorization do check my credit. Why would they need to?????

I don’t have anything to worry about, but I’m just a worry wart anyway… I have some speeding tickets, etc on my record, but I do have poor credit due to a divorce and 2 garnishments on my history – do you think this matters?
I had confirmation that my background check was complete 4 days ago – if something negative was on it, would they have contacted me by now?
I’m only stressed because I’m leaving a very good job, for an even better one, and I definately don’t want to have to retract my two weeks notice – I’m supposed to start at the new job in a week.
What about if I ask my new employer – can I ask them if everything checked out without making myself look guilty, or look like the worry wart that I am? :-\
Thanks, any advice is appreciated!!

I had two positions at my previous company, and at the background check phase for this new job he forgot I had two positions and only mentioned the one. I had the two positions on my resume. Will HR not hire me because of this? Will they think I lied? Is there anything I can do?

I have recently gone through an interview process and been offered a new job. My only concern is around the background check. I have no criminal record or history, but I did leave a previous job for undisclosed reasons, and have signed an NDA as a part of that severance. All I can say on that matter is that there was no malfeasance on my part, but I am still worried about what might come up when the background check is done.
I even have my direct manager from that job listed as a reference. I was a very good employee there, and she will say excellent things about me. But if they contact the HR department, I do not know what will be communicated. Can anyone offer expert insight as to how that all works? Thanks!
I worked for this previous employer for 6 years. That job was a significant part of my professional experience and qualification. So it is on my resume, and prospective employers will know that I worked there. So, knowing that, my question is about what the HR department legally can and likely will tell them about my dismissal, and not about whether they’ll find out that I worked there at all.

My husband is going through a background check in order to get a new job. He has had a clean record other than getting banned from a mall when he was 18. Do you think that will come up in the check and if so, do you think it will effect his chances of getting this new job? Thank you.

A few months back, I was arrested for 4th degree theft at my old job. When I was at my superior court hearing, I plead guilty and they sent me to municipal court. At that court date, my charge was dropped down to littering, and i had to pay erroneous retribution to my old employer (i had a really good public defender). What will show up on my new job’s background check?

I am searching for a new job in the paralegal field. I am new to this career, have an associates degree & just took the CLA/CP exam. However, I would like to announce to a prospective employer that I have already undergone fingerprinting & background check for my old government job. How does one do this?

I recently resigned a very short term position at a small company for uncomfortable reasons between myself and my employer. Prior to that, I’d had a stellar record at a different company with numerous promotions.
I am now applying to a new job and would like to completely forget about the recent glitch. However, the new *BIG huge INTERNATIONAL* company is going to run a background check. Will my recent resigned position come up in a background check? I resigned and left the same day, therefore was afraid to report it, but still have the opportunity to do so on a "permission to background check" form.

I am getting hired at a new job and they are going to run a background check on me for felonies. I am currently charged with a felony, but thats another long story. Anyways, my charges are expected to be dropped soon and I don’t want the charge to show up on a background check and screw me out of a job.

I am helping my fiance find a better job.. A few years ago, he was involved in a drunken bar fight, which ended up in his being arrested.. About a year ago, we had the record sealed.. However as we started this new job search, I decided that it might not be a bad idea to check his background, the way an employer might, and make sure this record did not appear.. Well, guess what… It did! We tried an online service, Net Detective, and it was there…Does anyone know why a sealed record would still be appearing on this background check? I’m assuming that if it’s here, it would be on any background check.

I failed a pre-employment drug screening at one time and I am worried that USIS (the company doing my background screening for my new job) will be able to communicate this information to my new potential employer. Is this health info not confidential? On USIS website they say that they compile virtual "file cabinets" on pre-employment drug screening results. Please offer some insight as to what I can expect. Thank you !!

I was arrested 6 months ago on a warrant for an unpaid ticket for "open container of alcohol". I was stopped for "urinating in public" and taken to Central Booking. I saw the judge who said that all charges were dismissed pending 6 months no-incident. Now I’m getting an extensive background check for a new job. Will this show up? And if so, in what respect will it appear.

I did not graduate high school but never had a problem getting a job. I always marked yes on the application but i’m scared they will run a background check on this new job I am applying for. My question is do companies just pull a background check on you criminal record or do they also look at your education profile??

I recently just got hired 3 weeks ago by a temporary employer, but the job I wanted at Verizon had called me and we had a phone interview. They do employment verification background checks, and I tried to give them all the jobs I had in the last seven years. I didn’t give them the new job I just got 3 weeks ago. I filled out a W2 form for the new one, but when Verizon sees the employment check, will they see the new job that I just started? I probably should have just listed it too.

I just found out I have a worthless check charge from 7 years ago in Union county, North Carolina due to a routine employment background check. I have a letter from the complaintant that they have no record of this plus no one can produce the original returned check or a copy of it. My concern is I am due to start a new job and they advised me that they are going to rescind the offer of employment for nondisclosure.
I explained I couldn’t disclose something I have no knowledge of. I need advice on how I can remedy this with my new employer as the dismissed charges may not be sufficient.

I recently acquired a new job with Safeway. After doing everything I was supposed to do, the next and final step was the background check. I called a couple of times to see what the results were, and yesterday I called, and then heard that they would call me back. So exactly how long do I have to wait before they tell me what the results are so that I can make so money?

Okay, when I was 21 I worked at Wal-Mart. My boyfriend at the time also worked there. He ended up getting into a physical fight (in the store while he was on break) with the boyfriend of our female co-worker. Afterwards, she and I got into an argument in the break room. (we were both off the clock.) It just so happens that she was already in the break room and I was on my way there. But the store managers take on it was that I "went after her." Anyway, all three of us were terminated. I am now 24 and have been at my current job for 3 years. I’m filling out an application for a new job and that wonderful question arised "Have you ever been terminated from a job?" Do I have to answer it honestly? Also, it asks for details; what if I act like it was nothing serious? There is a new store manager at the Wal-Mart I used to work for, do you think they will dime me out if this job calls and asks why I was terminated? Thanks for your help.

I am currently trying to find a new job, but due to my background I have been unable to even get an interview. I currently reside in IL and am thinking about moving to FL and want to know if employers will find out about my record in IL? My last conviction was in 2001 for a felony and I also have two other misdemeanors from before 2001.
