My current roommate is now showing her true colors, she is lying so much that it is ridiculous. She gave me 2 bad checks and she still haven’t paid her portion (security deposit and rent)..I told her because of this situation I want to do a background check because I am not comfortable with everything she is doing and saying..(lies after lies..)..She said she doesn’t the credit check and employment verification, but she will not sign for a criminal check. That was a red flag for me! Why would you not sign for a criminal check, is there something she’s hiding? Well of course there is, so I went online, typed in her name and DOB, and lord behold..she was convicted for IDENTITY THEFT AND WRITING BAD CHECKS AND MONEY LAUNDRING! Lord have mercy, I started crying..she could have gone into my room and took some info about me…I froze all my accts but still very scared.

So, In New Jersey, Is it illegal to do a criminal check without her permission. PLEASE HELP ME! MY LIFE IS IN YOUR HANDS!
The 2 checks came back as account closed and the accounts her in Maryland she claims, I asked her why can’t she open one in Jersey, she said she doesn’t have her social security card, but I remember seeing it when she pulled out her fake checkbook..my guess is that she is banned from opening accts because she might me in chex systems..WHAT A CROOK!…I WANT TO PRESS CHARGES SO BAD BUT HER BOYFRIEND IS PART OF A GANG HERE…MY LIFE IS AT STAKE…IM REALLY CRYING HERE BECAUSE I LOVE THIS PLACE AND I DONT WANNA MOVE…WHAT SHOULD I DO. hi i was wondering when a employer do a background check with your social security number for employment history. does it show if you were fired or quit from the job? or just dates of employment and a phone number to call? i really want to know. thankxxxxxx

such as employment history, etc? what if you are applying for a government job? are they entitled to use your SIN number to check your past employment history?

I have a cousin who worked with a fake social security using his real name…now he has his own real social security number and will go under a background check including employment history for a job…Now that he has his own will any of the jobs he used to work for with the fake social would come up in the new social security number when he goes through the background check?
Would the invetigator doing the background check would find out if he list all his previous employments? What if he doesn’t list his previous jobs would the investagator find out anyways?

An arrest was reported on my background check for employment. It is true that I was arrested nearly two and a half years ago for a dui, which is what the report shows. However, it is inaccurate that the status of the case is waived, which is what the report shows. This gives the false impression that I am in the process of being sentenced.

In fact, the status of the case that they used for their information is from the preliminary hearing at the magisterial level, shortly after my arrest in 2007. The online document clearly shows the case disposition (dated 1/2008) as waived, and the status of the case as adjudicated, or closed, because it was waived at that time to the court of common pleas. In case anybody hasn’t noticed, this is 2010. Does it take two years to go to court for a dui? In any state?

At the courthouse level there is no record of my case. It was expunged after successful completion of ARD. For some reason, there is a glitch in the system, which I am currently in the process of trying to get corrected, so that this information is no longer available for public consumption and misinformation.

The second error is a "possible match". It’s someone who shares my first name only, shares my birth date, and lives in a state I have not visited since I was an infant. I hardly think I could have been capable of doing anything criminal when I was 11 months old.

I am 99% positive that this purveyor of misinformation (aka, the credit reporting agency — now there’s a possible match!) did not use the social security number that I provided to fact check my criminal history before releasing said misinformation to my possibly soon to be ex-potential employer.

How do I dispute these? I’m not sure that I want to forward a copy of my court order for release, dismissal and expungement (for privacy reasons) to a company that is so careless about the information they distribute, all the while including a disclaimer about it’s reliability and accuracy, and at the same time denying any responsibility for said unreliable and inaccurate information. If I performed that poorly at my job, I would have been fired a long time ago!

Is it up to me to prove that the information on my background check is inaccurate and incomplete, or is it up to the credit reporting agency?

If so, how do how "prove" that I am not the complete stranger that they are suggesting that I am?

We recently found a house for rent and put in an application that included our address (husband and i) social security number as well as employment and previous landlord info. He said he is going to perform a full background check. what does that in-tale? Can he do a credit check also? we never were told about a credit check just full background and employment/landlord references.

I have a Mexican friend who used to work illegally but now he got his social security number and he is not working illegally again. He will be working soon in a company that requires him to go through a background check so… he is kind of scared if he is going to be affected by this or if he probably will get deported. I wonder if backgrounds checks only check for criminal records? or can it also be related with immigration? I don’t see why it would be related but I may be mistaken.

Today i was told by an hr person that they were going to do a background check on me. From what it seems in MA an employment background check seems to be different than an employer checking your CORI. it seems like most places that look up your CORI are places that work with kids, patients, elderly and there are specific consent forms requesting your signature of approval to look this up along with getting your social security #, etc. I was asked for none of this. What exactly comes up in an employment background check? I was arrested last spring for possible dui and i’m currently fighting it with a lawyer. Even my lawyer told me it’s usually just housing type places, gov agencies and places that work with kids that check a CORI. I’m annoyed because i only thought you’d have problems if you were convicted of something. I havent been…but looks like now i’ll have to worry about this damn arrest. My brother works in a court, i asked him to look up my cori and he said it just says, open cases. That could mean many things!

I’m always weary to give out social security # and wonder if it would be required as part of a background check that is required before you buy a gun in California or if Driver’s license # is sufficient.

i have applied to a job who was extremely interested in hiring me. i signed a waiver for a full background check to include medical. i had back surgery seven months ago. i think they caught that because they did not call me for the job. how does a hiring company get medical backgrounds? through insurance companys? via social security number?

THE REASON WHY?
My identity was stolen years ago and I just found out.
I have been applying for jobs like crazy for months (hundreds at this point) with postive interviews and feedback but they just won’t hire me.
I have an excellent work history, excellent professional refrences, College educated(3.96GPA) never been fired from a job, an as far as I know I have no criminal record, clean driving record (never had a ticket or accident) and never have I ever been to court.

I wonder if at this point if someone has used my identity and there will be somthing found in my background check to reveal why employers refuse to hire me.

I am not limiting myself to the type of jobs for which I am applying. I’ve applied for everything from sales, customerservice, data entry, office assistant type jobs, art postions, jobs in fast food, retail, warehouses, airlines, telemarketing, television/media/news, goverment /federal jobs.
I apply for any job that fits my skills and now I am at the point of applying for anthing that I know I am capable of doing or fits my qualifications.

Day labor won’t send me out because they "don’t send out many women" and I end of waiting until they say "no more jobs"

I am 24, ready and able to work. It is just baffling.
No tattoos anywhere, I have just my ears pierced once.

Annual credit report showed just the address of someone who did steal my social security card and used it, but I did the police report for that.

But what I wonder is what site has a background check, or what "thing" would employers look for then turn someone down because of that "thing" that they found.

I was wondering about this as I have a friend who has schizophrenia and can’t remember if he has any unpaid traffic violations in the several jurisdictions he has lived in that he hasn’t taken care of. He is paralyzed with fear at the prospect of searching any of the online resources for this information and, of course, does not wish to ask a member of law enforcement, so he was thinking that his pending case with Social Security would include a criminal warrant and background check and settle the matter. My friend checked out his tenant on US Search (dot com) and now has a question about it (and other "on-line" background check services for that matter). – - Could the result have come back reporting on multiple people?

The result indicates this guy: has been divorced 4 times before, so is on his 5th marriage. His current wife is very nice (so is he, outwardly, albeit a little eccentric, perhaps.) But the search goes on to say the former marriages ended either in anullment (2), for unknown reasons, and one for "Fraudulant Contract" (What could that mean!?) Furthermore… it indicates that the man’s social security number has been used for other names… and gives those too. (Although the SSN is not given.)

Is this really all true and all for this same guy? I guess my friend is in his rights (not just snooping) as he has a contract with this guy. Should he tell the man’s wife? What if she doesn’t know? Is this the profile of a con artist? They’ve been married 5 yrs. Reformed?

Last Thursday I had a interview at a check cashing store & they copied my Social Security and ID and said they had to do a background check & send it to HR. I already did the drug test last thursday in the managers office (saliva test) im sure it came back clean because i do no drugs. The third-party company they go through is called Sterling. I have no criminal history, so I am not worried about that. My husband just had a background check done for a job, and it came back falsified. All of the information he provided was correct. Birth certificate, social security card, name, work history, education history, etc. He does not have any felonies or any criminal history at all. What could have happened to make it come back falsified? We are really upset about it, because he is not going to get this job for unknown reasons.
