I’m starting a new job on Monday, and they need me to bring in my social security card to verify my eligibility for employment and make a photocopy of it for the IRS. However, I have 2 legal names, since I have an AKA on my certificate of naturalization. The last name is the same, but the first name is slightly different. The Social Security Administration has both names on file for the same social security number, as far as I can remember, because when I got my California Driver’s License, the CA DMV requires that the name on the license and a name associated with the given SSN match. However, since my original name is still legal, they did not issue me a new card. On top of all of that, I file my taxes using the legal AKA name that isn’t on my social security card.

I’m pretty certain that when they ran a pre-employment background check, the report found both aliases. Does it matter that my social security card has my original legal name and not my AKA that I currently use? Am I going to have problems when I go in on Monday?

Thanks for your help.
Oh yeah.. I forgot to add, my driver’s license has my AKA name on it, not my original name.

Regarding employment & background searches…?

I’ve been unemployed for 4 months now. I just interviewed for a position at a medium-sized sales company for an operations manager role. The interview went well; this is the job I always wanted! Anyway, the manager e-mailed me and asked me what the dates of my past employment were. I didn’t add that to my resume because the longest job I’ve held was for about 1 1/2 years!

I have tons of experience; I know I’m really qualified, as I’ve done similar roles in my past. I really WANT this job! How should I reply?

Lastly, when a company does a background check, what is your past employer allowed to reveal to the inquirer?

Thanks for your help!

I'm doing a background search on a person?

I need to know what it means if someone has a criminal traffic case.
What could it be, as I am doing all of my own investigating, and have no money, so I am going through public records. I found what I am looking for, but, I have no idea of what constitutes a criminal traffic case, obviously something criminal….duh! lol, but what kinds of things are most likely criminal traffic? Thanks for your help!

What shows up on a pre-employment background check?

Okay, when I was 21 I worked at Wal-Mart. My boyfriend at the time also worked there. He ended up getting into a physical fight (in the store while he was on break) with the boyfriend of our female co-worker. Afterwards, she and I got into an argument in the break room. (we were both off the clock.) It just so happens that she was already in the break room and I was on my way there. But the store managers take on it was that I "went after her." Anyway, all three of us were terminated. I am now 24 and have been at my current job for 3 years. I’m filling out an application for a new job and that wonderful question arised "Have you ever been terminated from a job?" Do I have to answer it honestly? Also, it asks for details; what if I act like it was nothing serious? There is a new store manager at the Wal-Mart I used to work for, do you think they will dime me out if this job calls and asks why I was terminated? Thanks for your help.

Where can you search criminal records from Maryland for FREE?

I need to find a criminal record for someone who lived in Maryland. I know they were incarcerated for two years, but I do not know the charge(s). In NC, which is where I live, you can easily search for criminal records for free from the Department of Corrections website. I am having trouble finding a similar feature on any government website in Maryland. Thanks for your help!
