The case was dismissed and the terms of the probation were completed. I am now in the first year of the five year waiting period and am trying to get a job. On the employment application I was told that employers still look at the charge as a conviction. So would it be better to disclose it up front seeing as they will do a background check and and see the charge although it did not result in a conviction and the case was discharged or dismissed?

Will it still show up on a pre-employment background check?

I recently got a new job after looking for 4 months. I was finally happy and I finally started getting all my bills caught back up.
When I went into work today my boss pulled me aside and asked if there was anything on the application I lied about. I told my boss no and she said she has no choice but to terminate my employment because i failed my background check. She told me it came back saying I had a felony from 12 years ago on it.
First off I have never been arrested in my life. 12 years ago I would of just turned 18 and I did get a speeding ticket and a seatbelt ticket around that time but never anything like this.
Now after all that looking for a job and going through applications and interviews im back at square one and more pissed off than ever because its not true.
Do I have any recourse as too my options. Im more than willing to do whatever it takes to get this fixed and hopefully it can be fixed fast and get my job back.
Can I find out who gave my employer the incorrect info and sue them? Do I really have a case?
I really dont know what to do if anyone could steer me in the right direction it would really help.
Thank you!

Through a pre-employment background check, I just found out that I have 4 felony warrants for bad checks that are 10 yrs old. I am unemployed and have virtually no income to pay them or the bail, but I believe the statute of limitations is up. I would gladly pay if I had the money to, but I don’t right now. Does anyone know how to clear this up?

I’m about to take a background check and curious if a past dropped charge will show up or how it will show if disclosed? I was arrested and charged for a felony but the charges were dropped and case was closed. It’s for an employment offer, not for any federal or state agency, just a local shop. Will it show up on a background check? If it does how will it show on it?

If an Employer does a background check for a job position and you have a felony are you automatically not hired or are they just trying to see if you do have a criminal record?

The crime happened in 2001 and my attorney asked for it to reduced to a Misdeamenor since it was my First Offense. I didn’t realize it was on my Report until three months ago after moving to a new city to find employment.

I am now almost 21 now and was offered a job at a major credit card company. They had me submit a background check a week ago and today offered me a job and gave me a UA and fingerprints. Can they see that crime, and is it LEGAL for them to decide not to hire me after all because of it? The crime involved a marijuana brownie and was not fraud or money laundering or anything you would think they would look for for a finance company. Help me understand if I am having anxiety for no reason. (also I have passed background checks for 2 apartments and my current job)
I was convicted, I took a plea bargan to causing someone to injest a controlled substance (because i shared the brownie with my friends) stupid I know but I was 14 it was 2004/2005. I dont want this to affect who I am now

I was rejected because she said the background check showed a felony. I brought
in public records showing no felony and she is keeping my deposit and said I lied on the application. What can I do? It is listed as a misdemeanor. I live in Phoenix Arizona who can I turn to?

s the judge vacated the order and dismissed the charge against me. He also reinstated my civil and gun rights. It was a felony 6. What will a background check look like for me when an employer or landlord does a check on me? Also, I am getting conflicting information on whether I have to check yes or no on paperwork asking if I have ever been convicted of a felony. Thanks guys, it means a lot to me.

Like i said, i think it was a level eight. First offense. They told me it WOULDNT be picked up by employers who perform background checks, but i just applied for a job and something came up. they havent told me yet but it has me worried. It happened when i was 17 and im now 21, turning 22 in less than a month. I wasn’t "convicted" of the felony but they used some other term, that i don’t remember. So if anyone could tell me the term and if it can be picked up in background checks id appreciate it.

In California: ?
a failure to appear in a traffic court because of a traffic ticket that was put on a person’s DMV record by mistake by the court house and /or dmv, would that show up on your background search when you are looking for a job? (a failure to appear in a traffic court, in California is considered a misdemeanor)
Second, if your car was repoed, would that show up as a judgment or something or some kind of court order or law breaking act , that could show up on your credit report, or background report for employers to see ?
