I am currently trying to find a new job, but due to my background I have been unable to even get an interview. I currently reside in IL and am thinking about moving to FL and want to know if employers will find out about my record in IL? My last conviction was in 2001 for a felony and I also have two other misdemeanors from before 2001.

So, you want to get a "brand new start" by lying to employers…
They will check, they will find it.
Even if they don’t find it right away, you can be fired at anytime later for lying on your application.
Somehow I don’t see any different results for you with that outlook.

They will check your entire background no matter what state you are currently residing in. Then it would be up to them if they hired a felon or not. You cannot hide from your past.

Why would it matter, unless you are going to lie on your application!
It all depends on the type of background the company does. Not all companies do U.S. background checks because it cost to much money. Some will only do state wide (FL) or some will only do the county.
However, it should NOT matter because you should tell the truth. If you lie on your application and they find out about it, then, you can be fired! Then what? You going to move to another state????

Most background checks are ran by social security numbers or name and date of birth…therefore, all records will show up/.
